Wine Is Not a (CPU) Emulator, nor does it include one. • So if I understand correctly, WINE will not work on a PowerPC Mac as it does on an INTEL Mac and I could use it only in combination with a CPU emulation like Q?! Qemu Furthermore there seems to be, which seems to emulate a guest PC and therefore needs an installation/license for Windows (and maybe more ressources?) VirtualPC If I remember correctly, I have an old version of VirtualPC somewhere, if that might be a better option.?

Pull the HDD from my other laptop, then pull the hard drive from the Mac and transplant it into my ASUS laptop, create a Windows 7 boot drive on my PC, and install Windows 7 on the Mac's drive. Now calm down little Tommy, I hear you crying out 'But that Mac has a PowerPC CPU and can't run Windows 7!!!' And it doesn't have to. From there, I download the version of Os X that I want, install it on that drive, and get rid of the OS that that pesky little PowerPC can't handle. And, in theory, bangety boom, I've got myself an OS on the Mac (after putting the HDD back into it, of course) However, things work much better in theory. I whipped out my PowerPC headache machine, and prepared to pull our friendly OS-less HDD. And that's about as far as I got before having to consult the internet on how the durn thing comes apart.

Each time the screen flicked briefly to text appearing half way down the left side, but then flicking to a grey blank screen with a No Entry sign. I read some information saying that a partition is required to install Ubuntu but when I tried this a message appears in disk utility saying I can't partition because the disk contains the start up volume. Thinking about the error message booting with the disk 'LOAD-SIZE is too small' I wondered if maybe I'd burnt the wrong software.

How Many Computers Can I Install Windows 7 On
Hi, Best to start with the fact that I'm no expert so simple terms without acronyms work best for me I have a Powerbook G4 17' running Tiger 10.4.11 I downloaded the Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS 32bit and burned to disk. I also copied it to USB. After reading instructions on how to install I loaded the disk and restarted, holding down 'C' to boot the disk. Just went straight to OSX. I then tried booting to firmware and typing 'boot cd' and got error 'boot cd load-size=0 adler32=1 LOAD SIZE is too small' I then tried booting to firmware and typed 'boot usb 0/disk@1:2, yaboot' I tried this replacing 'usb 0' with 'usb 1' and 'usb 2'. I only have two ports so I guessed the one I was plugged into had to be named either 0, 1 or 2.
OK I did a disk permission repair and still cannot run Quick time. I may have stated the problem wrong. What failed to mount was the program when I tried to download Quicktime thinking I would just re-install it. What happend when I try to open a Quicktime file is that the image will flash up on the screen for a second and then disappear and I get a window saying that 'The application Quicktime Player quit unexpectedly.'

Serial ee prom programming. The machine should reboot and you should be now booting off of the USB. And if none of that seems to work, the seems to be a more succinct answer starting from item 4 in the list of instructions.

My Powerbook has been in the closet for many years after the camcorder port decided to stop working and my son ripped off most of the keys - Apple were less than useless with this, despite purchasing AppleCare. I managed to get most of the keys back and recently bought the rest on ebay. It's in very good condition and the dvd drive has had hardly any use, so I doubt there's any issue with it working.
Install Windows 7 On Usb
I recently got a PowerBook G4 17' with a 1.67 GHz PowerPC CPU, 2GB of RAM, 100 GB of hard drive and running under OS X 10.5.8. These computers are actually getting more and more obsolete, and this computer must be up to date concerning the software for a proper use (Mac OS X 10.5.8 can’t support the latest software since years).
When your computer starts, it prompts you and asks which operating system you'd like to run. To carry out this procedure you can use a program called Boot Camp which is available for download from the Apple website. The problem with this way is that you need to re-boot in order to switch between Mac and Windows applications. Now Depending on what you do and how you work, this is either a minor inconvenience or a big deal. You see you can't copy and paste between Mac and Windows programs.
The disk space taken up for the download was under 700mb, is this right? I looked on the Ubuntu website and discovered many different places to download from this page At this point I realised that installing Ubuntu on an older Mac is by no means a simple task and now I'm just confused about what to do next. Can someone please help me out here? It seems Ubuntu is the only way I'll be able to keep this fantastic piece of kit running safely. Thanks in advance. Thanks for the link Bob.
